environmental responsibility
We are retired public school educators (former science teachers) with a vigorous commitment to preserving and protecting our environment. We "discovered" cork on a recent post-retirement trip to Portugal. The more we learned the more impressed we became with this incredible natural material. Cork is sustainable, light-weight, soft, durable, water and abrasion resistant. Cork forests harbor remarkably high biodiversity and are effective carbon dioxide filters for our planet. We knew we had to find a way to create a cork connection from Portugal to North Texas.
Since our humble beginnings in early 2017, we have steadily added more products and designs to our collections. We remain steadfastly committed to use only sustainably sourced Portuguese cork. We currently work with four direct source producers from different regions of Portugal.
WHY Cork?
Cork forests represent one of the most diverse terrestrial ecosystems on the planet, second only to the Amazon rainforest. Preserving these biodiverse areas is critical to our planet's health.
Harvesting cork from these areas represents a win - win for the ecological and economic future of these areas. Cork trees are not killed from a harvest. They actually grow back stronger and become more efficient carbon dioxide filters during regrowth. Cork is harvested every 9 years and the trees grow to be 200 - 300 years old. Society benefits through jobs and sustainable products and our environ-ment benefits through preservation of these diverse habitats.

Cork is a 100% natural, renewable, recyclable, and biodegradable material that is obtained through an environmentally friendly harvesting process. Cork fabric is extremely light weight and soft to the touch. Compare this quality to even the finest leather. Cork is a very durable material making it an excellent choice for purses, wallets, and jewelry. Due to the natural properties of cork cells, cork is water resistant. If items ever become soiled or stained, they can simply be cleaned with soap and water and allowed to air dry.

All of our products are hand crafted to high quality standards. Some are one-of-a-kind items. Transportation challenges have made it more difficult to get many of the items that we normally stock.
